Outcome Disparities

Outcome disparities occur when a subgroup or minority has a poorer health outcome than the majority group having the same diagnosis. Do you believe this type of disparity is a form of intentional racism, cultural ignorance, or just indifference?

  2. This writer believes it begins with education to promote culturally appropriate care and diversity among all providers. Once providers are educated then the clients must be educated regarding disease processes, available treatments and treatment options. Clients must be taught patient's rights and responsibilities. Yes, this writer said responsibility! It is imperative that each individual participate in care by educating themselves on disease process and be compliant with treatment regimens.
